OneClimate1The United Nations Conference on Climate Change is taking place this December 7th through the 18th.  The importance of this event for the future of our planet cannot be overstated.

Those attending in Denmark will be limited to the diplomats and negotiators, selected press, students, and representatives from various groups.

Yet you can have a voice too.  You can experience the event, listen to the presentations in real time, offer your questions through moderators and meet with other people from around the world with similar concerns.

I would like to invite you to consider participating, from your desk or laptop computer, requiring only your time, enthusiasm and commitment.

I have been working closely with OneClimate.net, Beta Business Park, and Commonwealth Islands to host the Copenhagen Expo in Second Life – and you are invited to attend!  OneClimate will be streaming the event inworld and taking questions and comments from those attending via Twitter and Second Life.

The OneClimate staff has done this before, from the Climate Change Conferences in Bali and last year in Poznan.  This year from Copenhagen they will organize and host live streaming, Q&A sessions and much more (see Appendix for press release). Working with Link TV, Justin TV, The Guardian, Greenpeace, YouTube and others they will bring the conference to life.

You can attend as a private individual, simply wanting to experience this historic event and share it with people from around the world.  If you would like to represent your business or non-profit organization, make a presentation or attend other scheduled lectures, you are welcome and encouraged to do so!

Beta now has a portal into SL, a full time staff ready to greet you and help you become acclimated to this new environment.  With various sims and groups participating, there will be a great deal to see, do, and learn about as virtual worlds become increasingly important and viable tools of communication.

Come join us in Second Life.  Lend your voice to others from around the world in letting our governments know that we the people demand serious action on global warming – now!

I hope to hear from you soon!

Paolo Rousselot is well known in Second Life for his HeatSaving projects and his concerns with saving energy, sustainability and innovations.

Less well known is his work as a photographer of legends, legends in jazz and blues music. During several years he has film photographs of singers, musicians and performers in the United States and of course I feel very honored to open an exhibition of his work in Second Life to an audience.

The opening will take place on Sunday 18 October in Second Life, in the Metaverse Gallery of Metaverse Association in Bellobas, Second Life (slurl). Time is 21.00 (Paris time) or 12.00 pm SLt. Hope to welcome you in large numbers!

metaverse-tueasdayStarting from Tuesday 25 August we will start again with our weekly Metaverse Tuesday! Every Tuesday from 20.30 until 23.30 we will organize these exciting open meetings in Second Life.

The meetings don’t have a preset theme mostly, but our visitors bring up the topics. We invite everyone who is interested in the development and use of Second Life, virtual worlds, as a very helpful tool to communicate with people around Europe and the globe. Artists, developers, entrepreneurs… anyone who thinks of Second Life as a communication tool, as 3D-internet (and so, NOT as a game) is very welcome to join this open meeting.

Language is not a problem as the location is provided with translators that translate all open text chat real time and in 46 languages.

You can also find us here in Facebook and also read more about this meeting and see who else is coming to the next Metaverse Tuesday.

The website of MixedRealities, a Blog about Philosophy, Economics and Virtual Worlds has published an interesting article on Linden Labs and their interaction with the Residents of Second Life. This blog ended with the question:
