“Hadopi” kleurt Franse Web zwart

First test for ssmBloggerXT v1.04

There we go again. A new device and so also a new test. The ssm_blog_poster_XT v1.04 is again a device that allows the user to post a blog directly from Second Life to a WordPress weblog.
This device is created by ssm2017 Binder.

But this one has more features and possibilities.
First of all, this blog-poster has a notecard that need configuration.
So, no need to open the script to define the settings anymore.
Only the configuration of url, username and password are mandatory.
All the other values are optionnal, such as tags, categories etc.

Secondly, this version allows to use any config parameter or leave default ones if not writing them, and all we have to do is start and end the text with body-tags.
Tags for div, strong, italic, are all available.

Another great improvement is, that tags and categories can be defined by their names and no loger by their ID-number.

Notecard limit
As we speak, we have come across a limitation of Second Life notecard (lsl script limitation) that explains the earlier found bug about text that is cut off.
This means that we will have to deal with the fact, that we can never write lines that are longer than 255 characters.
This is a limitation that cannot be overruled, according to this lsl-wiki.
We will have to deal with it… I believe, that once we get used to it, the fun of blogging live from SL will defeat this inconvenience.

So much for now, and again.. this story will be continued!

Test 6 of ssm_blog_poster v1.06

In test 5 of yesterday, it has not become very clear if the text would be cut of after 1024 characters, and if so, whether the first 1024 or the last 1024 characters would be posted. So this really needs to be tested well, before this device will be shared out as freeware (!) The reason is, that my text was just not long enough.

For who has missed the proceeding five posts in the last couple of days: I have the honour to be the first and only tester of a device, that allows me to write a text on a notecard in Second Life and post it to this weblog directly. Without leaving Second Life, even without the need to open a web browser, I can just write a story, or a live report of an event that I am attending, and post it here on this weblog.

If this  device works well, I have the honour to share it with all of you who are inworld to and would like to blog while being present in Second Life.

The next step, very shortly after this one, is that I will test another blog-poster, the ssm_blog_poster_xt-v1.04, which will provide the user with much more options, features and usability. But that is for the next blog!

Test….. :)

EDIT:

I have edited this blog-post after, as the result of the test was not satisfying. After posting, it turned out that each paragraph that exceeds a length of 256 characters is cut off. That gave quite an unreadible text. So, this story will be continued!

Blog from SL to website, part 5

Testing version 1.06 of the Second Life to WordPress blog device. This device, which is created by ssm2017 Binder in Second Life is still in development and after debugging it will be improved with more options and features.

Test to make a link: http://twitter.com/MalloryDestiny
test to make bold text: bold text and italic text

And of course we want to know what the maximum length of the text is, as we discovered yesterday, that only the last 1024 characters were posted, when the blog exceeded that number. (Of course: I have corrected that manually, or else the last blog before would have been unreadible)

Ok, let’s save, post this and see…

How to blog from SL to WP

After the three test-posts below here, it has become time to explain a bit on how it works, to write a WordPress weblog post in Second Life and publish it directly to your blog.
Step One
It starts with a script, that should be placed into an object in Second Life, for example: a box. So, just drag and drop it in a prim.
Step Two
Important is, to edit a few lines in the script and save it.
In the picture here, see lines 9, 10 and 11. There you fill out your username of your WP-weblog, your password that you use for WordPress and the url of your WordPress website. Save the script and close it.
Step Three
The notecard must start with the first three lines (skip the numbers).
1) Title of the blog
2) Categories by ID-number, separated by comma’s. (yes, you have to look up the ID-numbers of the categories that you wish to use.)
3) 1 stands for publishing at once, 0 stands for Draft
From here, line 4, you can start blogging. Write your story, your real time live report of all your adventures in Second Life.
And save all.
Step Four
Close the notecard. Find it in your inventory and drag it to your object that contains the blog-script.
And that is all!!

Blog poster will answer you in the Local Chat like this:
[5:17] Blog poster: Start reading the notecard
[5:17] Blog poster: Notecard read
[5:17] Blog poster: Post succeded Post id = 319
[5:17] Blog poster: http://meerdaneenwebsite.nl//?p=319
And will prompt you to open the url to your own new post.

Second Life to WordPress part 3

In this third test to post directly from Second Life to a WordPress blog by using a notecard and a script an important bug should be fixed.

The second post showed and included also the first post, which should not have happened.

This post is to test if that has been fixed.

So here should only be this new text, without the first two included.
