In Second Life

Translated from blog post "In Second Life" of earlier today.

In early January I have told about our intentions for 2009 and that we were planning to bring our business “Meer dan een Website” into Second Life™.

And now this intention has become a fact! Last Thursday, the 12th February, we got 2288 virtual square meters in Second Life™ which are now named “More than a Website”. Indeed, for use in Second Life we have translated our company name, because most of the residents don’t understand Dutch. This beautiful place, on the sim ‘Ebeoplex’ (SLurl) has been provided to us by Stonfield Inworld, which is a company in the South of France that has been in Second Life since quite some time and offers services in e-commerce, retail and e-learning.

After we have finished our preparations such as building the place and decorating it properly, we plan to take advantage of this virtual office in at least two ways. Read the rest of this entry »

Metaverse Association

The Metaverse Association is a project, that we have started in co-operation with the French entrepreneur PhilippeO Janus (Philippe Batreau) in Second Life. Philippe has been working with internet since 1992 and he owns two companies concerning webhosting, website building and internet marketing: Adminet / Epistrophe and the newspaper Vocation Fonctionnaire, which is published digitally as well as on paper.

And what we want to do is really a lot.

We wish to help new residents in Second Life to find their way and we want to help and guide companies that wish to start in this 3D webbrowser. But we also want virtual worlds to be and stay free and open to use for everybody and everywhere. Just like the Isoc (Internet Society) has done since the beginning of internet: make it accessible for everyone, everywhere.

With the name  “Metaverse Association” we have started to build in Second Life the Metaverse Galerie, the Metaverse Theater and the Metaverse Hostel. And in very short notice:
In the Metaverse Theater we wish to offer a place for presentations, conferences and lectures by anyone or any group that wishes to do so.
In the Metaverse Hostel we want to be a host for companies that wish to start in Second Life and give them a starting point and as much guidance and support that they need. Specially small businesses can be given a great start in this Metaverse Hostel.
At this moment we spend the most of our time and energy to build up the Metaverse Galerie, of which the process of creating is special in itself…
